We’ve partnered up with Cleveland Public Library again this year to bring public art to the Eastman Reading Garden in Downtown Cleveland. This year we asked artists for BIG ideas. Mark Reigelman’s winning submission, Reading Nest, definitely fit the bill! Visit it Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm from now until October 2013! (Photos by the artist.)

For centuries, objects in nature have been associated with knowledge and wisdom. Trees of enlightenment and scholarly owls have been particularly prominent in this history of mythological objects of knowledge. Reading Nest is a visual intermediary between forest and fowl.  It symbolizes growth, community, and knowledge while continuing to embody these mythical roots.
